MARABOU MADNESS FLY TYING EVENT 2014

The Fayetteville program of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing will conduct its first Annual Marabou Madness Fly Tying Event on July 12th from 9:00am until 3:00pm at the Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The Fayetteville PHWFF program would like to invite active duty military personnel, disabled veterans, and all interested tyers to attend in support of those who have served and are currently serving in the military.  Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is 501 ( C ) 3 organization that seeks to aid the recovery of our injured active duty military members and disabled veterans through fly-fishing related activities and opportunities to socialize with those with like interest.  PHWFF provides participants with the regularly scheduled education opportunities such as; fly-casting, fly-tying, rod-building, and other fly-fishing related programs. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to take part in several fly-fishing outings that are offered each year, all at no charge.

The Marabou Madness event is intended to provide participants of the PHWFF Mid-south region with an opportunity to come together to meet and share information with other fly anglers and veterans while taking part in one of our favorite past times. Attendees can look forward to demonstrations from accomplished fly-tyers such as; the originator of the Hipps’ popper, Anthony Hipps who was featured in the May 2012 issue of Wildlife in North Carolina magazine.  Other activities include fly-tying contests, casting games, and raffles that will help the Fayetteville PHWFF in providing future activities for our participants.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own tying equipment. However, tools and materials will be provided by the Pechmann Fishing Education Center for our new tyers. Lunch will be provided by the Fayetteville PHWFF program for those who pre-register.  To register contact Tom Carpenter  at 910-494-2757 or
thomas.carpenter@ncwildlife.org.
